The practice of yoga has tremendous benefits for our youth: physical strength, muscle flexibility, stress release, increased coordination, emotional regulation, increased focus, stronger body awareness, and so much more.  These benefits are learned through a series of yoga poses, activities, games, breathing techniques and mindfulness exercises.  Come, learn and experience all of these and see for yourself the skills the youth in your life can gain.

Participants of this weekend intensive will leave with a certificate of completion.  It is our intention and goal that you leave this weekend experience with the confidence and skills to teach a youth yoga class or exercises to support the communities that you would like to reach.

After the completion of your weekend training, there will also be an opportunity to observe, assist and teach live youth yoga classes at the YMCA to give you the added practical experience and confidence to share your knowledge.

This training is for anyone looking to implement yoga, mindfulness or breathing techniques with young people.  From teachers, to therapists, to caregivers this training will help you implement basic, fast-coping techniques using the ancient practices of yoga.  You could also go further and deeper by incorporating these techniques into a class, 5-60 minutes, to offer youth a well-rounded experience.  Previous yoga or kids yoga experience is not needed.

This intensive weekend training will be offered multiple times a year.  The next offerings of this training are:

-       July 23 & 24th, Saturday & Sunday, 9am-3pm
-       September 15th & 16th, Friday 6pm-9pm, Saturday 8am-5pm
-       November 18th & 19th, Saturday & Sunday, 9am-3pm
All of our trainings and youth yoga classes are held at the Schlessman Family YMCA; 3901 East Yale Avenue, Denver, CO 80210.

Young Yokes is Registered Children’s Yoga School through Yoga Alliance.  Along with the weekend intensive trainings, we also offer the full Yoga Alliance approved 95 hour training to become a Yoga Alliance Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT).  This experience begins Friday, September 15th.  In order to become a RCYT there are three requirements:

-       Certificate of completion from a 95 hour RCYT program

-       30 hours of teaching kids yoga classes
-       RYT 200 status, meaning that you have completed a 200-hour teacher-training program.  This can be done prior to or after the completion of a 95-hour RCYT program.  Your certificate of completion does not expire.
