What Is RCYT?

An RCYT is a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher. This is a 95hr certification recognized by Yoga Alliance.

Per Yoga Alliance requirements and in order to receive the full certification, you'd need to complete all 4 of our training modules (Foundations, Early Childhood, Adolescence and Deep Dive), as well as additional homework and teaching hours.

The formal designation of RCYT is available to registered yoga teachers with Yoga Alliance.

Where do I start?

Whether you're in it for the full RCYT, or just want to get your toes wet with youth yoga, our Foundations training is the best place to start!

In the Foundations module, we cover the basics of youth yoga: why it is important, how youth classes are different, poses and mindfulness activities, practice teaching and build a tool box of classes that you can implement immediately.

After Foundations, you can choose to take only the modules that apply to your specific interests, or you can complete the remaining three to progress towards the formal certification of Registered Children's Yoga Teacher (RCYT).

But, I'm not a yoga teacher...

Great!   We welcome people from all background and contexts to join us for Youth Yoga Teacher Training!

If you love kids and want to share the magic of yoga with them, then this training is for you.  The true beauty of the module style training is that you can do as much or as little as you'd like - keeping it general with just our Foundations training, or continuing to specialize with one or two of our additional modules.

We've had school teachers, homemakers, therapists, childcare workers, parents, grandparents and caregivers join us for training and apply what they've learned to their specific way of interacting with children.

Why is it important to be Yoga Alliance Certified?

To be registered with Yoga Alliance (did you know we're a Registered Children's Yoga School??) means that our curriculum is held to a high standard and is required to meet criteria and include content valued by the leading certifying agency for yoga teachers.

Becoming a RCYT shows organizations and employers that you are dedicated to offering the highest quality and most up-to-date curriculum for Youth Yoga.

Even if you don't complete the full 95hr training, working with a Registered Children's Yoga School will provide you with a network of resources, colleagues and support as you offer youth yoga to your community.

I'd like to sign-up for the full RCYT program but I can't complete all the dates at one time.  What can I do?

When signing up for the RCYT program, we ask that you complete your classroom training within one year of your start date.  If you need to miss a module then you can make up that module the next time around.  We offer each of the RCYT modules two times per calendar year, historically in the spring and the fall.

How has the COVID-19 changed Spring 2020 Training?

In response to the CDC and WHO recommendations, we have decided to offer the April & May 2020 Trainings (Adolescence & Deep Dive) remotely.  As we get new information, we will update the training schedule.  At this time, our Fall 2020 Trainings will be held virtually. This will be a combination of Live-Stream, Video Conferencing, Homework & Recorded material to achieve the 23hrs (each) of content.

Reach out to register or clarify the schedule with us!
